Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How does eldercare planning work?

A. At Solutions for Seniors, we begin eldercare planning with an initial consultation where we listen to your concerns and answer your questions. Following the consultation, we proceed with an assessment. Here we evaluate how your aging loved one gets through their day. We look at their quality of life and identify issues and solutions. Following the assessment, we create a service–care plan that is sensitive to individual needs, preferences, and costs. Clients may also choose to retain Solutions for Seniors to implement, manage, and adjust the service–care plan over time.

Q. Who uses our services?

A. Our clients are aging seniors who want service themselves and also others who are responsible for the health, safety, and happiness of an aging senior in need of support. Anyone who needs advice in decision-making and/or assistance in delivering quality care and services can benefit from the services of an eldercare planner.

If any of the following scenarios sound familiar, an eldercare planner can help:

  1. Your aging loved one is given a new diagnosis, like stroke, dementia, or decreased mobility, and needs help accessing resources and care.
  2. You are working full–time, have children living at home, and are unable to commit the energy and focus at the present time to an aging loved one.
  3. You are a long-distance caregiver and therefore cannot monitor or manage care for an aging relative on a daily basis.
  4. Your elderly relative has complex physical and medical needs that require coordination and on-going monitoring.
  5. Your aging parent is no longer safe at home alone.

Q. How will my family and aging loved one benefit from eldercare planning services?

A. An eldercare planner can:

  • Streamline the often convoluted process of navigating the health care system.
  • Help you find the right resources at the right prices because they are familiar with all available resources and know the variety of services along with their associated costs.
  • Reduce the incidence of health crises by actively monitoring service–care plans and adjusting them as a senior’s needs change.
  • Ensure your aging loved one is getting the services they require by advocating for their needs and preferences with doctors and other health care professionals.
  • Act as a liaison between the senior, family, and professionals to improve and coordinate communication.
  • Retain additional service providers on the senior’s behalf to look after things such as shopping, balancing the checkbook, and paying bills, and help protect a senior from fraud.

The core benefit of a good eldercare planner is peace of mind in knowing that your aging loved one is receiving the care and services they deserve.

Q. How much is it going to cost to me?

A. Professional fees are usually bundled into packages and depend on the types of services provided. Some employers and long–term care insurance companies subsidize or cover these services for their members.

Fee schedules and estimates are available upon request.

"Thank you for all the "leg work" you did for us!"
