About Us
Wendy Johnstone - Owner
Wendy Johnstone is a trained Gerontologist with over 15 years experience
working with seniors and their caregivers. She graduated from Simon Fraser
University in 2001 with a Master's Degree in Gerontology.
Her experience includes working with independent living and frail seniors as
well as service and health providers targeting an aging clientele. Wendy
focused on promoting quality of life for seniors and, consequently, their
caregivers:
- at Toronto's prestigious Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care;
- with innovative New Vista Society and Campus of Care in Burnaby; and
- for stroke survivors and their caregivers throughout the province for the Stroke Recovery Association of BC.
A passionate presenter, Wendy facilitates
seminars on various eldercare issues both locally and nationally.
Wendy sits on the Board of Directors for the Caregivers' Association of BC
and is an active member of the Canadian Association of Gerontology. Locally, Wendy is a Mentor for the Parents in Partnership program with Comox Valley Family Services.
Shaped by her own personal caregiving experiences with her grandmother and
father, Wendy's purpose is to advocate for her clients with the same respect
and diligence as they would their own family.
Wendy and her husband, James, moved to the Comox Valley in 2003 to improve
their quality of life and raise a family. Currently, they have one
daughter, Carly.
"I am so thankful that I was referred to you. I have total peace of mind in
terms of the care for my Mom, the process to get things enacted and the
terrific follow up reports on her current status. I am very glad that she
is able to remain in the same community where she and my father spent their
lives. That means a great deal to me."
